UNREST IN BANGLADESH :: ROLE OF CIA & CHINESE INTELLIGENCE

Former exiled Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina finally accused USA intelligence agency CIA for plotting conspiracy to topple Awami League government at Dhaka, for greater geo political strategic interest of United States and western diplomatic forces. According to diplomatic analyst Chinese Intelligence was also simultaneously pro active for ousting Hasina government. She further flared up her anger against American conspiracy saying, that,  because of her refusal to US authority to hand over St Martin Island for setting up of  US Air Force base, at Southern Bangladesh,  CIA engineered  student movement as an instrument to through her out from the power corridor of “Gana Bhawan” in Bangladesh. It is further presumed, this attempt would have been first steps for US to press western forces to sail and sway over Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean.

CHINESE INTEREST IN BANGLADESH:-

Beijing’s investment for gradation of marine connectivity Bangladesh is highest because China needs control over Bay of Bengal and Indian Ocean as because of following future business prospects-  

• China, being most populous country of the world, deeply concern about the future energy security. Bay of Bengal is the natural reservoir of future hydrocarbons of the world.

• Beijing needs Bangladesh because of its proximity to the Bay of Bengal, 70 percent of marine trade flows through the East-West Shipping Route, which has major contribution towards the rapid growth of Chinese economy.

• China has constructed most high tech marine base at Cox Bazar on the foot hills of Chittagong Hill track, subsequently China developed it as first Submarine base of Bangladesh, and how this marine setup had caused alarm to India’s defense as it had close proximity to the Indian naval base at Andaman. India is deeply concern about the silent Chinese presence on the bed of Indian Ocean.

• China understands the geo political importance of Bangladesh peninsular, the diplomatic relation that Bangladesh with India is just adverse to the strategic bastion of China. On the other hand there is a political instability in Myanmar. On the other hand, Sri Lankan economy already grapples with high debt fiscal deficit. Moreover perilous political situation in Pakistan compelled China to mark Bangladesh as their hot geo political and business destination.

• Padma Multipurpose Bridge, which connects densely populated Southern and Southwestern Bangladesh, was the possible because of the technical initiative of China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group.

• Bangladesh’s market economy is a heaven for Chinese Garment manufacturers because of its low cost of production and its huge market accessibility to entire south east area. Finally Sheikh Hasina government fallen in Chinese trap, while Bangladesh had was failed to make check and balance between New Delhi and Beijing following diplomatic stalemate regarding Teesta Water Sharing issue.

AMERICAN INTEREST IN BANGLADESH:-

• Bangladesh is the most densely populated Muslim Country in the world. On the other hand United States garnered deep hatred against Muslim countries in post 9/11 period, however, however Bangladesh was the only Muslim Country in the world with whom United States maintained serious political relation.

• Bangladesh bring the fourth largest Muslim country of the world and one of the most populous country hence, for United State Bangladesh is always the most prolific readymade market for American business tycoon.

• Contribution of Bangladeshi American is immense, for socio economic growth of United States and on the other hand, rapid increase of their population stands as vital factor for the economic growth of US economy.

• Recent reports says that literacy rate of Bangladeshi people in United state is about to cross the average literacy rate of Native Americans. According to Pew Research Centre, based at Washington reports that, in the year 2019, out of the total population 26 percent American Bangladeshi obtained Bachelor Degree, where as only 20 percent local American obtained Bachelor degree, on the other hand only 13 percent American attained Post Graduate Degree in the year 2019, on its contrary 20 percent Bangladeshi American attained post graduate degree in the same year.

• Furthermore geo political location of Bangladesh is strategically too vital for United States and hence United States is making largest foreign direct investment at Bangladesh as well as attractive export destination of United States.

• Diplomatic relationship between Dhaka and Washington deteriorated fast as soon as former Bangladesh Prime Minister ruled out America’s demand CIA presence at Chittagong Port, as Pentagon wants to bring Chittagong Port under the control of US Department of Defense. It can be mentioned that Washington had a plan to set up missile launching pad near Chittagong basement. PAKISTAN INTEREST IN BANGLADESH: – 

• Before partition, both Pakistan and Bangladesh were the part of undivided India. Even after India’s liberation both Pakistan and Bangladesh were together under one umbrella of administration together for 24 years. After defeat of West Pakistan in the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War the East Pakistan was liberated and in the year 1974, East Pakistan was recognized as Peoples Republic of Bangladesh.

• Origin of same historical backdrop, both Pakistan and Bangladesh are the major Muslim country in South East Asia.

INDIA’S INTEREST FOR BANGLADESH:-

1. Being a next door neighbor, India is the second biggest trading nation of Bangladesh. In the financial year 2023-24, Bangladesh exported goods of USD 1.97 billion US dollar to India, similarly bilateral trade in the year 2023-24 between India and Bangladesh escalated up to 14.01 US dollars.

2. India has strong cultural – ethnological connection, as present Bangladesh houses more than 15 million Buddhist, Hindu’s and Christians.

3. In Bangladesh India made major investment in rail connectivity, road and water connectivity, air connectivity, and power and energy sector.

4. For the smooth flow of high speed diesel India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline connected both countries in the 2023.

5. Bangladesh imports 1160 MW of power from India. The Maitree Super Thermal Power Plant is instrumental in exporting power to Bangladesh.

6. There are four railway links and three popular railway trains presently operational between India and Bangladesh.

7. Five different crowded bus services now operational between India and Bangladesh.

8. Indo-Bangladesh business corporation further stand on export of garments, fishery product, medicine, agricultural products and other logistic materials.

Apparently, it seems that student unrest is root cause of global unrest in Bangladesh. However, international imperialistic giant pulled wire, behind the curtains to bring Bangladesh under the claws of western agencies. The impact of first line conspiracy of course already had fulfilled aspirations of the west, as India is put at a length from Bangladesh, stowing away the brighter days Hasina’s regime.
