Recent decision of Bangladesh’s Home Ministry to lift ban on Jamaat-e-Islami shall have a long term affect on the Geo-Political dimension of the North eastern region of India and Assam shall not be exceptional of it. Interim Government of Bangladesh served clean sheet on Jamaat-e-Islami as there was “no specific evidence of involvement of Jamaat and its affiliates “in terrorist activities”. Sheikh Hasina government imposed ban on Jammat-e-Islami under anti terrorism law Jamaat-e-Islami is the most popular Islamic outfit of Bangladesh.
Interim government led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus considers the decision Sheikh Hasina was “illegal, extrajudicial and unconstitutional”.
New Government of Bangladesh also lifts ban on Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami.

Jamaat ul Mujahiddin of Bangladesh: – Political ideology of this group is form a hard line Islamic state in Bangladesh, introducing Wahabi Ideology having of 10,000 fill time operative and one lakh half time operative. Jamaat ul Mujahiddin is the good possession of arms and ammunition. Jamaat ul Mujahiddin of Bangladesh has good number of presence in Malda, Nadia and Mushirdabad of West Bengal. In the year 2006, JMB’s close nexus with Lashar-e-Taiba of Pakistan surfaced while two Pakistani terrorists were arrested in the Jhalakathi district in southern Bangladesh.
Hizb-ut-Tahrir :- Professor Mohiuddin Ahmed is the founder of this group. This group has sizable presence among the university students and government functionaries. Most of the group members are from BNP and their motto is to propagate anti Indian thought, and to sabotage the pro-India movement of erstwhile Sheikh Hasina. This group has good presence all over20 nations in South East Asia. .
Ansarul Al Islam: – Ansarul Al Islam is a radical Islamist group of Bangladesh has a strong influence on the terrorist outfits of Assam. In fact Ansarul Al Islam (Helpers of Islam) has a greater affiliation with a larger outfit Al-Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent (AQIS). In Bangladesh Ansar al-Islam (Bangladesh) also called Ansarullah Bangla Team, a radical Islamism group in Bangladesh.
Few months ago, seven miscreants, suspected to be linkmen of the Ansar Al Islam were also nabbed in Morigaon district of Assam.
In the same way, 10 members of Ansarul Al Islam were arrested of Jania area of Barpeta district of Assam. In the same span of time, seven others, suspected to be linkmen of the same outfit, were also nabbed in Morigaon district.
Harkat-ul-Jihad (HUJI-B):- This group was the direct descendent of Osama Bin Laden lead Al- Qaeda. Motive of this outfit is to form hard lines Islamic state on the soil of Bangladesh. In Myanmar they fought against Burmese Army fighting on behalf of Rohingys during recent violence. They have strong presence India, Myanmar and Nepal. Their political target the Awami Party leads by Sheikh Hasina. Budding ground this militant outfit is floors madrasas, where young minds of Muslim youths were indoctrinated. Reports says this group had triggered off medium and large scale blast in various cities of India, having the presence of its sleeper cell West Bengal, Nagaland and Assam.
Apprehension of Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma:- It can be recalled that, the banned rebel outfit of Assam, the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) was ousted from Bangladesh soon after the Sheikh Hasina regime came to the power However aftermath of recent Bangladesh turmoil, there were an apprehension of Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma that insurgent outfit of northeast may exploit the situation.
